Hi! My name is Alex Silalahi.

I'm a Technical Game Designer and Narrative Designer ​with a BS in Game Development and Design and a BA in Creative Writing.

​But why videogames? Like many others, when it came time to think about college applications, I initially felt lost. I had taken computer science for my entire 4 years in high school and was captivated by the magic behind programming. So naturally, I thought I would major in Computer Science. However, the idea felt like wearing shoes that were just a little too small - I can still wear them, but they aren't as comfortable as I would like them to be. I then considered creative writing, which was not just a hobby for me at the time. For me, writing was (and still is) a creative outlet as someone with anxiety and way too many thoughts swirling in her head. But only majoring in Creative Writing didn't fit well either.

So why not combine both my love for coding and writing and pursue Game Development with a specialization in Narrative Design? It is the best of both worlds where I can showcase both my technical and creative skills as a Narrative Designer, and I've gotten to work on fun projects and help share various stories as a result.

When I'm not making games, I'm either tackling my endless TBR list or my equally long list of games to play.
